Decentralised architectureBadumna uses a revolutionary approach that is based on a decentralised architecture. This is quite different from the traditional client-server architecture. Client-server architectures have a bottleneck in terms of overall scalability and are prone to single point of failure no matter how you configure your server cluster. Badumna on the other hand uses a decentralised approach that utilises the end-user network. It forms a logical ring of all the nodes that can grow to a large number of users without stressing any single node in the network. It also improves fault tolerance as the game is not dependent on a single server that needs to be up and running all the time. As long as there are users in the network, the game continues to function. Low hosting costHosting an MMO can be very expensive due to the high operational costs associated in managing a server farm with very high bandwidth demands. Badumna is capable of reducing this cost significantly (up to 80%) as it utilises the end user network to deliver most of the functionality. Badumna's fully customisable network provides developers with a low cost option to publish their MMO. Publishers don't have to pre-invest in expensive hardware prior to the launch of the game. Sharding limitsMost game servers impose a limit on the maximum number of users they can support. This leads to a game being split into multiple shards. Badumna eliminates these limits and provides developers with the ability to build single sharded MMO that can scale to truly massive player counts. Easy to useBadumna has a very simplified API and it comes with a rich set of documentation, tutorials and many example games complete with source code. It also comes with a Unity package that provides drag and drop features to all Unity3D developers. Strong emphasis on R&DThe engineering team is committed to building a product that is unique and extremely powerful and has a strong emphasis on research and development. The core technology is a result of several years of R&D at NICTA, Australia's ICT Centre of Excellence. We continue to re-invest in R&D to continuously improve the core technology and keep up with the latest cutting edge research. |
